AUSTRALIAN CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE RECYCLER PROGRAM

(A program of the Auto Recyclers Association of Australia Limited)


An applicant will be required to agree to the following program conditions:

  • 1. The business acknowledges it has read the A-CAR Program requirements as set out in the A-CAR website (www.a-car.com.au)
  • 2. The business acknowledges it has read the I-CARE Program requirements as set out in the I-CARE Automotive website
    (www.i-careauto.com)
  • 3. The business recognises that it is a condition of A-CAR membership that its operations:
       a) Currently comply with all the requirements of the International Certified Automotive Recycler Environmental (I-CARE) Program; or
       b) The business undertakes that it will within one year from the date of signing this Agreement comply with all the requirements of the International Certified Automotive Recycler Environmental (I-CARE) Program.
  • 4. The business recognises that in the event it does not within one year from the date of signing this Agreement comply with all the requirements of the International Certified Automotive Recycler Environmental (I-CARE) Program, the business will resign its (A-CAR) membership.
  • 5. If this occurs the business agrees to comply with the requirements of Clause 11 of this Agreement, as noted below.
  • 6. The business recognises that in order to retain Certification in year 2 of its membership it is a requirement that it meets (or commits to meeting) the second stage requirement in year 2 – that is, the business evidences compliance with Australian workplace health and safety standards.
  • 7. The business recognises that in order to retain Certification in year 3 (and after) it is a requirement that it meets (or commits to meeting) the third stage requirement in year 3 – that is, the business evidences compliance with Australian business practice and consumer protection standards relevant to the automotive recycling industry.
  • 8. The business recognises that in years 2 and 3 of its membership of the Program if it does not within each year comply with all the requirements of the A-CAR Program, the business will resign its membership.
  • 9. If this occurs the business agrees to comply with the requirements of Clause 11 of this Agreement, as noted below.
  • 10. Upon acceptance as an A-CAR certified member:
       a) The business agrees to maintain the business standards and conduct applicable to the Program.
       b) The business agrees and understands that should the ARAA establish a breach of these standards, this may result in cancellation or suspension of its membership.
       c) The business agrees that Australian Certified Automotive Recycler (A-CAR) membership is not automatically transferable on change of ownership.
       d) The business agree that Certification applies only to the premises on the accompanying application form, and this site is the only site to be promoted as Certified.
  • 11. The business agrees that if its Program membership is suspended or cancelled, or it resigns its membership, the business will remove any Program signage from its premises and from any stationery or other material promoting its membership, and the business will cease usage of related signage or logos advertising such membership.
  • 12. The business understands and agrees that ARAA retains absolute, unfettered rights and control over the use of Australian Certified Automotive Recycler (A-CAR) signage, logos, and other Certification promotional or advertising material.
  • 13. The business acknowledge that should it not comply with the above, legal action will be instigated.
  • 14. The business understands that this application will be subject to an audit program and other validation prior to acceptance and as part of its ongoing A-CAR membership, plus any other checking and validation procedures which may be developed.
  • 15. The business agrees to allow access to ARAA and the Program Auditor to its premises and related records for the purposes of conducting Audits under this Program, and to allow the Program Auditor to release the audit result information to ARAA.
  • 16. The business understands that as the automotive recycling industry changes, so may the Australian Certified Automotive Recycler (A-CAR) requirements. The business agrees to incorporate any such changes in its business relevant to its Certification, within the prescribed time frame.
  • 17. The business agrees to conduct its business according to ARAA’s code of conduct and to take pride in the industry and the business, thereby enhancing customer perceptions and confidence in this industry.
  • 18. The business agrees to protect and indemnify ARAA and its Directors and Officers from liability against any claims against the business (or its owners, directors or employees) from the community, consumers, or other businesses or individuals.
  • 19. The business states that it currently holds Public Liability insurance cover and acknowledges that is a condition of Program membership that it maintains the currency of such Insurance.
